East Longmeadow's Planning Board approved special permits for a dog daycare and a gas station rebrand, while warning a subdivision developer of fines up to $300 a day. Applicant Annemarie Doyle told the board her planned Daragan's Dog Care facility at 173 Shaker Road would meet the state's "Ollie's Law" kennel-safety standards "a hundred percent," and the board unanimously approved the permit along with a signage-only rebrand of the former Sunoco station at 204 North Main Street to Nouria. Deputy Town Manager and Acting Planning Director Rebecca Lisi said a certified letter went out this week to attorney Josh Levine, representing Happy Acres subdivision owner Marlene Goldstein, giving 14 days to resolve stormwater-maintenance violations "or fines up to $300 a day." A third permit, for a planned Revive Real Food + Cafe at 24 Shaker Road, was continued to October 20 after a member recused himself over a competing business, leaving the board short of the four votes a special permit requires with a fifth member out recovering from surgery.
