Board of Health · Meeting of September 17, 2026

East Longmeadow Board of Health grants a second 30-day extension for 44 Elm Street repairs. Health Inspector Alex told the board a September 15 follow-up found none of the violations from an August 18 hearing corrected, though two items were closed out as grandfathered. Owner Laura Stevens, in a statement read into the record, said a sheriff is set to remove tenants "refused to vacate" on October 8, with repairs starting October 9.

The board voted 3-0 to extend the deadline to October 17. Members also heard that a temporary state order, announced by Commissioner Robbie Goldstein, classifies kratom as a Schedule I substance through August 2027, and that police found marijuana, kratom and flavored tobacco during a search of a local smoke shop whose tobacco and liquor licenses have already been revoked.
